Uncle Clayton sits with Robert Conrad {Wild Wild West},
and Dennis Weaver {Gunsmoke}, during the ceremonies.
The first original 'Television Cowboy' is honored by his fans
for the many years of great entertainment.

Hollywood, Ca - 08/22/79 - Moore vs Wrather.
You Can't Take The Mask Off The Lone Ranger.
"I've been the Lone Ranger for 30 years
and I've never wanted to do anything else
since the show shutdown in 1956."
So said Uncle Clayton when asked what he was
feeling about Jack Wrather's restraining order.
He wished Mr. Spilsbury well and
success with the new Lone Ranger movie.
But He refused to give up His life.
The Lone Ranger was everything to him.
"It made me a better person, a better American.
I believe in fair play, honesty and respect.
I will not give up the character
that portrays these important values."
It would be a five year battle. He never lost hope.
Thanks to the best fans in the world.
He would emerge victorious.

When you look very closely into Uncle Clayton's eyes,

He was profoundly touched by your incredible support.
Your love and devotion was, and is, without reproach.
You stopped a large corporation from making a terrible mistake.

been more forcibly proven than when all of You
stood behind him in his fight to retain his mask.
He was amazed at the tremendous
amount of letters written in his behalf.
